Payal Mehta's Preorder Plot!

Payal Mehta’s Romance Revenge Plot Preorder Campaign

It’s all finally happening, and we can launch this preorder campaign for Payal Mehta’s Romance Revenge Plot with a signed bookplate and the absolutely siiiick sticker sheet my sister, Heeral Chhibber, designed. Don’t you want those two little mangoes in love?

You can put them on your masala dabba or on your compact. Or anywhere really.

Or on the book itself (I don’t have a picture of this as we are exactly three months pre-pub, but imagine how cute they will look.) I also need you to know how upset I am that I couldn’t find an old filmfare so I could stick the henna-heart hand on a picture of Shah Rukh Khan.

To get your stickers and a signed (personalized!) book plate, just preorder a copy of Payal Mehta’s Romance Revenge Plot from your favorite bookstore and then fill out this form (and make sure to email your proof of purchase in)!

I’ll be sending out a longer newsletter in the next few weeks and coming back to our regular programming of recommendations and behind the scenes stories — I’ve got some fun background of the X-Men: Blood Hunt — Jubilee one shot that came out earlier this month to pass along, so keep an eye open for that!

Surprise, a Chai Recipe!

Since this is a celebration of Payal, I thought I’d leave you with the chai recipe I use every morning. This is all per one cup of tea. The measurements are mostly given in -ishes—as per our standard oral-tradition-immigrant-parent-shared-and-then-personally-edited-over-years-of-my-own-making. You can also try it and edit the masala as you want, find what tastes good for you. This is an art form, not a science.

To a small pot add:

  • 3/4ish cup of water

  • 1 ½ TSP chai (I use Wagh Bakri premium loose black tea)

  • 2-3 TSP sugar to your taste

  • 1/2 - 1 TSP chai masala

    • you can either buy this (available at most neighborhood Indian bazaars or Patel Brothers)

    • OR my recipe for fresh masala is 1 - 2 pods of star anise, 2 cardamom pods, 2 cloves, piece of cinnamon stick ( ¼ - ½ inch-ish), 6 black peppercorn all crushed together & roasted

    • 1/2  - 1 TSP of fresh grated ginger

    • OPTIONAL: fresh mint & lemon grass if you have it on hand

Let Boil

  • Add 1/2ish cup of milk

Let Boil a second time

Strain and Serve

(If you end up making it, do share and let me know how it goes!)

Until next time ❤️
